Lightning Surge Arresters (Type 1 / Class B ) |
When combined with surge arresters connected in series immediately downstream, the new DEHN lightning arresters ensure a coordinated response, without the need for additional decoupling elements.
The fundamental advantages of the innovative technology are fully preserved. The low protection level makes it unnecessary to install decoupling inductances or to provide additional lengths of conductor between lightning arresters (requirement class B) and surge arresters (requirement class C).

Operation and Fields of Application
Surge Controllers are surge arresters of re- requirement class C to DIN VDE 0675, Part 6 (Draft 02.89) A1, A2. These devices protect low-voltage consumer installations from voltage sur-ges of all kinds.
They are available in single-pole to four-pole versions. Type 2 (requirement class C) is a special surge arrester for TN-C-S, TN-S, TT and IT systems. This device was developed for the new requirements of DIN VDE 0100, Part 534/A1, to allow simple, safe installation of the devices. |

Lightning And Switching Surge Arresters
( Type 1+2 /Class B + C ) |
Operation and Fields of Application
Lightning and surge Combi arrester ensures lightning protection potential equalization in accordance with VDE 0185, Part 1 and Part 100. The device is an arrester of requirement Class B+C to DIN VDE 0675, Part 6 (Draft 11.89) A1, A2.
It ensures potential equal-isolation for the energy supply line in lightning protection installations for buildings. The arrester can also be used in buildings that are supplied with power via an overhead line, since direct or partial lightning cur-rents may be expected there as well. |

Lightning And Switching Surge Arresters ( Type 3 /Class D ) |
Operation and Fields of Application
Lightning barriers or type 3 arresters are used as precision protection devices in power supplies for computer installations, modems, ripple control installations, etc.,to protect them from surges that may be caused by atmospheric discharges (storms) or switching operations.
The built-in protection circuit, which is made up of gas discharge tubes and varistors, is permanently moni-tored by a temperature cutout. A visual indication shows the liveness of ready to operate. If the protection circuit is overloaded, an integral isolating device isolates the circuit and the green indication goes red. In the version with remote signalling, a floating changeover contact also operates. |
